Direct from Spain…

We continue to undertake exhaustive research on your behalf in order to select the best wines, beers and ciders that Spain has to offer (it’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it.) We’re pretty fussy and work on the same principle with our drinks as with our food, which is “if we don’t like it, we won’t sell it.” Our list is almost exclusively Spanish, although we have allowed one or two interlopers to sneak in, such as a local bitter…

We import many of our own wines from the small independent family Bodega, Consejo de la Alta in Cenicero, La Rioja. It’s a beautiful place and we visit it regularly (you can too, they are most hospitable.) Their range includes young and aged Rioja wines, red, white and rosé. In addition, the family have friends in other wine-making areas and are now sending us their excellent Cava from Penedes, as well as a verdejo from Rueda and a stunning Albariño from Galicia.

Our direct imports are supplemented by a range of wines from the fabulous Talking Wines of Cirencester, a small independent importer who we use because they care as much as we do.
